JULIA HADDAD BRUNO


Julia Haddad Bruno, age 106, passed away November 28, 2017 at her home here in Raton.

Julia was born in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, July 31, 1911 to Elias and Isabel Haddad. Throughout her life she was an avid bowler and sportswoman. At age 85, she was invited to join the Senior Women’s bowling circuit. Her bowling career ended at age 100 when she bowled 4 straight games in a single session.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Bruno; her parents; and six siblings; her twin, John Haddad; Emily Bonahoom; Mike Haddon, Frieda Numair; Dr. Albert Saba; and Dr.Gregory Haddad.

She is survived by nieces & nephews; Diana Best, Barbara Bonahoom, Elaine Karam, Abe Numair, Marilyn Gradwell, Theresa Kent, Maureen Gatterman, Gerri Ricci, Jackie Haroun, Michael Haddon, Margaret Bennett, Mary Gorlick, Dorothy Leonard and John Haddon. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will follow with Father John Brasher as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Julia Haddad Bruno are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

The family would like to thank Josie Barela, Dr. Loretta Conder, Dr. Misbah Zmily, Dr. Ehab Ali, Robin Pilley, Angela Flemming, and Connie Shields for her medical care throughout her time here in Raton, especially in recent months.
